365Caws is now in its 16th year of publication. If I am unable to post daily, I hope readers who love the natural world and fiberarts will seize those days to read the older material. Remember that this has been my journey as well, so you may find errors in my identifications of plants. I have tried to correct them as I discover them. Likewise, I have refined fiberarts techniques and have adjusted recipes, so search by tags to find the most current information. And thank you for following me!

Ring Cycles Milestone
I have reached a major milestone on the Ring Cycles quilt, and in far less time than I'd expected. I am done quilting the circles (design on the reverse is shown in the inset)! The next step is applying the binding, and then it will be time to figure out how I want to quilt the narrow lavender border. When I began this phase on September 24, I thought I'd be at it all winter. I set myself a goal of six circles per day (the fingers get sore, and so does my back), and except for one day when I had to be away from home and only managed four, and another when I only did five because that was all I had left in one corner, I stuck to the plan. Some days, I even stitched 7, 8 or once, 9. I will easily have this quilt done in time to enter in at least one fair next autumn, although I'm not expecting to win a prize despite its being entirely hand-sewn. The Puyallup Fair usually hosts 200 or more quilts, and I know I'm going to get points off for embedded cat hair.
