Best Buds

Day 176: It's been a few days since I took these photos, and my "best buds" are noticeably farther along. Spring is definitely in the air after what seemed to be an interminable winter. Today, I noticed the first signs that my three-foot tall fig tree is awake, and it's usually the last to put on leaves. From 12 o'clock around, we have here lilac, spiraea, blueberries, golden chain tree, wild currant and hardy kiwi, the last of which is showing the most change since the photo. Fruit and flower, my garden is growing!

Spring In Evidence

Day 141: I believe! I'll trust a plant over a weather forecast any day, and my daffodils are telling me Spring is just around the corner. They sprout first under the protection of the contorted filbert and later in the more exposed flower beds, but both locations are showing the evidence of Mother Nature's gentling mood. The croci have not yet emerged, but the grasslike threads of grape hyacinth leaves are pushing through the ground as well. Even with yesterday's snow, the new green in the garden was obvious. Soon winter will be a memory, erased by bright yellow trumpets and the golden eyes of narcissi. Hurray! Spring is on the way!

Bloomin' Crazy

Day 39: Tonight, my blog has nothing to do with the photograph, or only marginally. I have been at this over three years now, and I haven't missed a day. I've been late...twice, I think, not as many as three times...posting a photo the following morning when I arrived home after midnight, but I've been consistent in taking pictures every day. Sometimes, it's been difficult to find subject matter, but more often, the writing of the text is where I've had to struggle. I like to keep my posts informative, or if not informative, at least moderately interesting. Occasionally, like tonight, I've been too tired to write the story, having worn myself out on getting a particular shot, and have had to delay posting until the next day when I could devote myself to the task of composition.

Tomorrow, I hope to have something special for you, something featuring a character you've seen in these virtual pages before, but tonight, I'm weary and wanting to crawl into bed. For now, I'll let the zygos speak for me. They can tell you how bloomin' crazy it's been.
